Welcome to the self-help bookshelf.
A therapeutic book club with a difference
I created The Self-Help Bookshelf to bring together three of my favourite things: reading, reflective conversation, and the magic of a therapeutic process group.
This isn’t your typical book club. It’s a space for real, meaningful change — through the power of story, shared insight, and a supportive group.
What is a therapeutic process group?
A therapeutic process group is a safe, structured space where people come together to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. With gentle guidance from a trained counsellor and psychotherapist (that’s me), the group supports one another in deepening self-awareness, making connections, and growing emotionally.
You don’t need to have any prior experience of therapy to join. Just a willingness to show up, be curious, and explore your inner world — at your own pace.
How it works
Each group runs for 8–10 weeks, depending on the book we’re exploring. You’ll read one to two chapters per week and come to the group ready to reflect, share, or simply listen.
We’ll begin each session with a grounding check-in, going around the circle and offering everyone a chance to share how they’re feeling that week — emotionally, mentally, or simply where they’re at.
From there, we’ll move into a reflective group conversation, where you’re invited to explore what’s come up through the reading and share any thoughts, feelings, or insights that have emerged.
We’ll close the process group with a check-out, again going around the circle to offer a few words — a reflection on how you’re feeling after the session, any new or emerging personal insights, or an intention to carry forward into the week ahead.
8 weeks – 8 chapters – 8 powerful conversations
