Emma Kenmuir
Student Member, BACP (awaiting Registered Member status)
I am a trained Counsellor / Psychotherapist and a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Currently, I work at the University of Derby as a PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) leader, where I support first-year and foundation students studying Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have successfully completed all academic requirements for my Bachelors of Science in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am currently awaiting my official transcript. I will be starting a Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Derby in September 2025. I plan to integrate my creative writing into my therapy practice to enhance the therapeutic process.
As a Humanistic therapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Transactional Analysis. This allows me to tailor my approach to suit each individual client’s needs.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly attend clinical supervision in line with the BACP Ethical Framework to ensure the highest standards of care.
